Bulletin Announcements and upcoming events

NURSERY

Nursery is available during our worship services – we have nurseries for infants, crawlers, and toddlers. Please visit our nursery suite area and check in your child at the kiosk for the appropriate nursery. A family lounge and feeding rooms are located across from the nurseries if you’d like to utilize them during the service.

OPCRC JOB OPPORTUNITY

The OPCRC office announces an opening for a Discipleship and Outreach Coordinator. Sheila Cook will be concluding her ministry in this position on July 31. The job description is available from Pastor Dan (dan@opcrc.org), or you can find it on our church website by clicking on the “News and Events” tab and scrolling down to “Job Opportunities.” Please apply promptly or suggest names to the pastors or office staff. We would like to fill this position quickly so that we have support in place for our fall programs.

SEARCH COMMITTEE WORK HAS BEGUN

The Search Committee for a Pastor of Discipleship and Outreach has begun its work. The committee invites the congregation to suggest candidates for this position. Suggestions can be sent to Joel De Jager (joeld@schaafwindow.com) or to Pastor Derek (Derek@opcrc.org). Please pray for the committee as it does the work of identifying and interviewing potential candidates.

DRIVER NEEDED FOR FOOD PANTRY ON WEDNESDAYS

Help needed with the food pantry: Volunteer driver with a van or a truck is needed on Wednesday mornings to pick up food at Operation Blessing in Midlothian. Please contact Sheila Cook if you can help: sheila@opcrc.org.

BACKPACK DRIVE FOR SAFE FAMILIES

The annual backpack drive for Safe Families children will run from July 22 to August 5. Many of these children do not have the basic items they need to begin school: notebooks, backpacks, pens, pencils, glue sticks, scissors, crayons, colored pencils, rulers, pocket folders, highlighters, markers, and calculators. Please return your donated items to the box that will be at the information center during that time. Thanks for helping these children start off the school year in a positive way!

FAMILY CLASSICS CAR SHOW: SAVE THE DATE!

Save the date for the annual Family Classics Car Show, scheduled for Wednesday, September 12, from 5:00-7:30 pm. Feel free to hand out postcards to fellow car enthusiasts, friends and neighbors. Postcards are available at the information center.

SUMMER FAMILY DEVOTION PACKETS

Options are available at the information center for you to use with your kids. Pick up one to keep your family in God’s Word this summer!!

OPCRC SUMMER READING PROGRAM FOR KIDS!

Kids ages 3 through grade 8 are invited to participate in the summer reading program in the OPCRC library. Reading logs are available now. The theme this year is “Book a Trip.” Please list books read or which are read to the child, and return starting July 8 for weekly prizes! The reading program will end August 26!

HONDURAS TRIP

Consider coming on the trip to Comayagua, Honduras, from January 12-19, 2019. We will visit several orphanages, build relationships with the children, encourage Arvil, Miriam, and Mommy Carmen, and help with light projects. The trip is open to anyone ages 12 and older and can be a great intergenerational experience, too! Think about making the trip with your son or daughter or grandchildren. Contact Jan Kamp at kampers07@sbcglobal.net for more information.

FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS

Food Pantry Donations: If you would like to contribute to the food pantry by donating food, you may drop off the food in the rolling cart located behind the information center in the inner lobby. Thank you for supporting this vital ministry!

BOXES NEEDED

If you have any sturdy boxes – sweater size and larger – that you would be willing to donate to the prayer shawl ministry, please drop them off in the church office or give to Sandy Huizenga. Thank you!
