Bulletin Announcements and upcoming events

Sunday School will not meet today or December 24 or 31. We will resume classes again on January 7.

Children’s Church is held on Sundays during the services in Room E/F. Children will be dismissed during the worship service. Please use the path through the outer narthex to the preschool, and proceed through the preschool to the education wing to reach the room. Morning Children’s Church is for children ages 3-pre-K, and evening class includes children ages 3-5. There will be no evening Children’s Church December 10-31, resuming again on January 7.

Nursery is available during our worship services – we have nurseries for infants, crawlers, and toddlers. Please visit our nursery suite area and check in your child at the kiosk for the appropriate nursery. A family lounge and feeding rooms are located across from the nurseries if you’d like to utilize them during the service.

Choir meets on Sundays in the music room immediately following the 8:30 am service. Please go through the church office to access the hallway to the music room. Coffee and cookies will be waiting for you there. Come, lift high the name of Jesus with us! Choir will rehearse on Sunday, December 17, at 4:30 pm and also on Christmas Day at 9:00 am.  There will be no rehearsal on December 24 or 31.

Tech Volunteers Needed! We are looking for volunteers to both operate the camera and run the computer during worship services. If you are interested in this vital ministry, are good with technology, or are looking for some service hours, please contact Josh Siegers at joshsiegers@gmail.com or Ryan Brouwer at Ryan.Brouwer@trnty.edu.

  • Thank you to those who participated in the Gifts of Hope ministry this year. Thanks to your generosity, over 275 gifts were given to bless children from Safe Families, Christ Cares, Lydia House, and Lakeside DCFS, and adults from Bethshan and Friendship class.
  • Outlook articles are due today. If you have any submissions for the January issue of the Outlook newsletter, please send them to denise@opcrc.org or drop them off in the office.
  • Do you know Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus? If so, you are invited to sing it with the choir at the conclusion of the Christmas Day worship service.

Choir Christmas Cantata: “Joy to the World A Celebration of Carols” will be presented on Sunday, December 17, during the 6:00 pm service in our new
sanctuary.  Let the message of the promised Messiah fill your heart and voice with joy this Christmas season – the Lord is come!

The Adult Serve Committee has confirmed West Virginia as the location of the house build. The house is for a young family who lost everything in the flood last June. This 5-week project will take place January 27–March 3. The following tasks will need to be completed for the five weeks of the project: Week 1: Carpentry, siding, roofing, general labor; Week 2: Electrical, HVAC, plumbing; Week 3: Drywall, general labor; Week 4: Taping, sanding, flooring, general labor; Week 5: Finishing touches, painting, trim, fixtures. If you would like to
volunteer, fill out a sheet at the information center, or contact a committee member (Don Waterlander, CJ Bulthuis, Mike Huizenga, Dave Kamp, Steve Kamp, Dave Kuipers, Len Kamp Jr., or Sheila Cook) to sign up.

Sponsors, if you would like to send a note, card, and small gift down to the child you sponsor at Hogar Amor, please bring it to the church office by December 30. Due to luggage restrictions, please keep gifts small and compact. Thanks for supporting these special kids!

Women's Coffee Break has begun and meets on Wednesdays - and you're invited! We meet together in the gym beginning at 9:30 am for snacks and fellowship. At 9:45 am, class begins, followed by a time of discussion and prayer. A nursery is available for infants and toddlers; and a Story Hour program is offered for children ages 3-6 years old. This is a wonderful program of Bible stories, crafts and play time.

Advance notice: Our first Theme Dinner work night will be Thursday, January 11, from 7:00-9:30 pm.

If you have any sturdy boxes – sweater size and larger – that you would be willing to donate to the prayer shawl ministry, please drop them off in the church office or give to Sandy Huizenga. Thank you!
