Food Pantry: We believe God calls us to care for those who are hungry. Our food pantry is welcoming and is staffed with grace-filled volunteers. Our Food pantry is open on Wednesdays from 1:00-3:00 pm. Food pantry recipients will need a valid driver’s license and can receive groceries twice a month. If you are available to help organize or distribute food, please e-mail Dori Summers.
Worship Ministries: Do you like to sing? Are you gifted with a talent for tech? Contact Joseph Bartels if you are interested in joining the worship team as a singer or instrumentalist. Contact Josh Siegers if you'd be willing to help in the tech booth by joining the audio/visual/lighting team.
Discipleship/Growth: If you feel you have a gift of leadership and would like to be involved in leading one of our Bible studies or Sunday School classes, please contact Judy Kamp or Dori Summers.
Meal Providers: If you like to cook, we have a place for you! We always have many needs for meals to be prepared for various groups or someone who needs a meal brought to them after an illness or surgery. Contact Dori Summers to be added to our list!
Welcome Team/Greeting Team: Volunteers are needed each Sunday to greet, usher, attend the information center, and serve/clean up coffee. E-mail Denise Vander Plaats for more info.
Crossroads: This is a ministry that ministers directly to prisoners. OPCRC currently has 30 volunteers who receive a Bible lesson completed by an individual in prison. The volunteers spend about an hour a week checking answers and writing a letter of encouragement to the inmate. This is a great ministry for people who like to work from home and have a passion to help others grow spiritually. Contact Ruth Baas if you are interested in being a part of this ministry.
Childcare Providers: Many of our ministries, both on Sundays and throughout the week, require the need for childcare. If you enjoy working with children, this may be the place for you to share your gifts. Contact Dori Summers for more information.
Church Library: The library at OPCRC is always willing to have more help! If you'd like to volunteer as a library aide, please contact Judy Kamp.
Bethshan Worship Services: Is your small group, family, or group of friends looking for a service opportunity? Bethshan Association (a residential facility for individuals with disabilities) would love to have groups come and lead worship with them at their main campus in Palos Heights. Contact Dori Summers for more information.
PADS: Volunteers are needed monthly to cook and serve food for Women and Children living in a homeless shelter in Park Forest. E-mail Dori Summers for more info.
Prayer Shawl Ministry: Do you knit or crochet? Volunteers are always welcome to make blankets for the prayer shawl ministry, which provides shawls/blankets to men, women, and children who have lost loved ones or are suffering from various illnesses or difficult circumstances. Contact Sandy Huizenga if you'd like to volunteer.
Free a Family: Each year we have over 40 runners who run the half marathon in Chicago to raise funds and awareness for Free A Family. Currently there is an opportunity to run or support a runner. www.crwrc.org/pages/crwrc_freeafamily.cfm
